MY REVIEW:

Fianna and Connell's clans were united when they were married, at the young ages of 17 and 19 respectively. But, after only three months, Connell's father started feeling threatened by Fianna's intelligence. He threatened to kill her if his son didn't divorce her.

Fianna's exile made the two clans hostile towards each other. Her pregnancy with Connell's child forced the two opposing clans to make a truce.

Twelve years later, a common enemy will bring both Fianna and Connell and their clans together, when the young woman shows up to Connell's fort's gates, wounded and covered in blood.

Connell, realizing what a terrible mistake he made all those years back, is determined to do his best in order to win back the woman he never really got over. But, will Fianna be able to trust him that his painful rejection of her twelve years ago was forced by his father?

An intriguing and suspenseful story that told the tale of two tortured people, who are called to decide whether they are willing to take their fates on their own hands.

I enjoyed the way the author narrated the story and I completely loved the two characters!

Especially Fianna had a very special place in my heart, as I deeply appreciated her! She was a strong, intelligent, brave woman, hardened by the tough turns her life had taken and the choices she was forced to take. Willing to do everything in order to save her son and her clan, she took great risks, putting in the line of fire both her life and her heart.

Connell has been torturing himself for letting Fianna go, for the past twelve years, conscious that she is the only woman that has ever affected him like she did. I deeply enjoyed the way he tried to win her over and regain her trust, even if he was aware how hard it would prove to be, and how badly he had hurt her in the past.

I also loved the setting of the plot around 800 A.D., an era I would very much like to know more about!

All in all, 4 stars for an intriguing tale of two tortured souls 
who slowly try to gain each other's trust, 
while at the same time fighting for their own lives!

Mac pulled Tasha to her feet and led her across the room toward Dougal. “Mr. MacBride, I’m Mackenzie Smith, Mac for short, and this is Tasha Banner.” She extended her hand to Dougal. “Pleased to meet you.”

Dougal glanced down at Mac’s hand but didn’t take it.

Mac dropped her hand to her side when he failed to grasp it. “We, Tasha and I, wished for the faeries to help us save the village museum and you walked through the door. The faeries have smiled on us this fine day.” “Mac stop,” said Tasha.

MY REVIEW:

When Tasha makes a wish to the fairies, in order for them to help her save the town's museum, she doesn't expect that miracles can happen during Christmas time!

Dougal the Blacksmith has been trying to avoid wedding the widow that has been courting her, wishing for her to leave him be. But, one night, when he walks into his home, a bunch of outrageously dressed strangers, Tasha included, is there to celebrate with him Hogmanay.

Soon, it becomes apparent to Tasha that this might just be the original Dougal MacBride, from the 19th century!

Just like the title suggests, a deep attraction and a passion that knows no boundaries of space and time soon starts to evolve between the two characters.

Will Dougal be willing to return back to his time if that means he is going to leave behind Tasha, the only woman that, in their short time together, has understood him more than anyone?

A very original story, that was hot, delightful and funny all at once!

The characters were so realistic, and their reactions to the outrageous events that unfolded in their lives were straight up hilarious at times!

I found myself trying to pronounce the sentences in my head, in the exact way Dougal's accent must have been heard.

This read got me very excited, and I loved it even more because it took place around Christmas time!

I would only love for it to be more extended, so I could get a little more of the main characters' interesting and steamy interactions!

All in all, 4 stars to an absolutely lovely 
Christmas time-travel miracle!

A young boy, five years old, sat sleepily behind his mum's recliner, watching the fireplace in front of him. On the clock behind him, midnight ticked slowly closer. The Christmas decorations around the room were gaudy, tired, and past their lifespan, but they were heirlooms and well-loved, so his mother continued to pull them out every year.

The boy tilted forward a little, yawning. It was well and truly past his bedtime, but he was definitely going to stay up to see Santa Claus.

The clock ticked over to midnight, and a rustling emerged from the chimney. Tom looked up, suddenly wide awake, and peered around the armchair to the chimney. Grains of soot dropped from the chimney into the fireplace below, and Tom hid a little more, watching the fireplace with trepidation.

Then the rustling stopped, and Tom watched the fireplace. But nothing happened.

He peeked out a little more, his heart starting to sink with disappointment. Maybe Santa didn't come if you were waiting for him?

Suddenly the front door clicked open and Tom gasped, hiding behind the chair, watching. He could hear the door creaking open, and feel the slow gust of cold as the wind from outside crept into the warm house. A large, bulky man stepped into Tom's view, dressed in a red suit, but lacking a beard or white hair. Tom watched him with one eye from behind the chair, and stared. Santa!

The man turned to look at him, smiling, and gestured for the boy to follow him. But Tom hesitated. This man was dressed like Santa, but his parents had taught him to be wary of strangers. Should he go? Or should he run upstairs and tell his parents about this?

The man gestured again, then reached into his large sack and pulled out a small present, perfectly wrapped, and held it out to him.

Tom emerged slowly from the chair, stepping slowly toward Santa. The bulky man smiled and headed for the front door, gesturing after him for Tom to follow. Tom looked at the present and cautiously followed the man to the front door, looking out. He couldn't see the man, but that didn't mean he was gone.

Suddenly something grabbed him from behind, pinning his arms to his sides and covering his mouth and nose with a large hand. Tom tried to scream, to wriggle out, but the man was much stronger than him, and he was cutting off his air.

The man carried him from the house, managing to steer him out without the kicking boy knocking anything over, and threw the boy into the trunk of his car. Winded, on the verge of passing out from oxygen deprivation, Tom weakly gulped in air as he watched a second shape carefully shut the door to the house, leaving behind no sign.

SPENCER

I ease out of the room quietly and take the baby downstairs. The house is big and the kitchen is far, but I can hear the bustle of kids and dogs before I even make it downstairs. When I walk in, it’s a madhouse.

I love this fucking madhouse. My girls are all laughing and talking a mile a minute. Belle is stuffing her face with pancakes, Jasmine and Ariel are clinking their OJ glasses together like they are having a secret toast, and Rory is…
I squint my eyes at Rory. She’s talking to Five, but that’s not what makes me squint my eyes. She’s wearing a Shrike Trikes t-shirt and sweat pants, but it’s the way… it’s the shape of her…
“Daddy,” Rory squeals, getting up from her stool at the breakfast bar and coming towards me. “Five wants to know—”
“Absolutely not.”
She stops short. “What?” Her smile falters.
Cindy smacks her little fist into my eyeball, and I have to take a deep breath. “I’m sorry, what were you going to ask?” I eye Five suspiciously. I know he’s always liked her, but he’s so weird. Like Ford, just weird. Always wearing those suits. Always on that computer. And he’s been in and out of different college programs since he was ten or eleven. He’s gone a lot and that’s the way I like it.
But today he looks… different. Different in the same way that Rory looks different in her innocent nightclothes. He almost looks normal in his flannel pajama pants and Shrike t-shirt. Add in the fact that his normally perfectly coiffed hair is messed up a little like he just rolled out of bed, and I get flushed with anger.
In fact, Rory’s long blonde hair is all messed up too. Flowing over her shoulders like an unruly waterfall. And Five is looking at her the way I look at the Bomb.
“But Daddy,” Rory pleads. “I need to go shopping.”
“Shopping?” I ask, ratcheting down my suspicions and getting a hold of my paranoia as the seconds tick off.
“Yeah, we don’t want to ski today. We want to go shopping in the Village.”
Shopping. I mull it over in my head. Lots of people there. Crowds of people, actually. Not private, in other words. “Maybe,” I say. “But I’m pretty sure Ford is counting on you to help him, Five.”
“Mr. Shrike,” Five starts. “I’ve already cleared it with my father. Kate’s helping him today. Right, Kate?” He looks over at his sister and there’s… there’s some kind of secret look going on between the two of them.
“Yup,” Kate says. She is as normal as Five is strange. And she’s been Ford’s little sidekick since day one. But she’s smarter than people give her credit for. I think she secretly likes it that way. Like being underestimated is the best gift she ever got out of being Ford’s adopted daughter. “Ford and I are skiing a double black once the kids are finished.”
“Well,” I say, eyeing my brood. Rory needs a chaperone. Belle, Jas and Ariel won’t go shopping. They love Ford too much to skip out on a whole day with him on the slopes. And there’s no chance in hell that Rook and Ronin will have time to shop today. Sparrow has ballet rehearsal before The Nutcracker tonight. “Oliver,” I say, smiling. “Ollie, my boy. You don’t want to ski today, do you? You hate skiing.” He does too, he can’t ski worth a shit. “Will you go with Rory and finds something extra-special pretty for Mommy today? She’s tired and needs a pick-me-up present before Santa comes.”
“Yay!” Oliver says. “Yes, yes, yes! I want to go shopping with Five. He’s the best, Daddy.”
I roll my eyes. “OK, good. You can go, Princess, but…” I look at Five. “But…”
“But what, Daddy?” Rory asks.
But what am I going to say to Five? You touch my girl, I’ll break your fingers? I’ll grab that shotgun I’m hiding under my bed and—“Just be home in time for dinner. Your mom is making something special tonight.”

AUTHOR INFORMATION:

Lisa is an Amazon bestselling author of contemporary and paranormal romance. She is originally from the UK and moved to Australia in 2001. She now lives in Perth, Western Australia with her husband, three children, and Weimaraner, Tilly, who often makes appearances on Lisa’s social media. Lisa’s first publication was a moving poem about the rain, followed by a suspenseful story about shoes. Following these successes at nine years old there was a long gap in her writing career, until she published her first book in 2013. In the past, Lisa worked as an English teacher in France, as an advertising copywriter in England, and ran her own business in Australia. Now she spends her days with imaginary rock stars. She lived in Europe as a child and also travelled when she left university. This has given Lisa stories which would sound far-fetched if she wrote them down, and maybe one day she will. These days, Lisa is happy in her writing cave, under Tilly’s supervision.
