My Review:

I received this audiobook from the author, and I had to admit that after starting listening to it, I just couldn't stop!!!

I'm not sure if it's the story, or the writing/narrating, or the characters, or all three of these factors together, that made me unable to even push the pause button, but I loved each and every element of this book nonetheless!

But, let me describe it all, one factor at a time!

The plot, really interesting and unique!
The phenomenally happy, clean and peaceful community of Austin Valley consists of Dream Travelers, where each person has a special ability!
But the small community isn't as unified as it used to be. More and more defects are being discovered as the years pass by!

The daughter of the President's right hand, Em Fuller, is one of those defects!
But, her natural curiosity and the sudden reveal that one of her old dear friends is still alive, after so many years of mourning him, will lead her to suspect that something bigger is behind everything!

But, exactly who and what is at fault, that question remains a mystery!
And, not only for the heroine!
We, the readers, are being thrown on one major plot twist after the other, with more huge reveals and fast building of sentiments for the main heroes.

I was left with my mouth hanging open far too many times, while also not being able to withhold myself from sharing the story, and every single discovery I was aware of, with practically anyone who would listen to me raving about this book!

I loved Em, and I loved Rogue, Zack and Nona!
To the point that I really loved them!

And, likewise, I hated deeply and with a passion all that tried to make Em's life difficult! (Sadly, I can't reveal who they are or rage about them, as I will be giving away major spoilers - yes, the ones that left me gaping at my walls - )

So many deep and contradicted feelings of love and hatred for the different characters, generated by this books!

If you really are looking for a book that will combine, adventure, romance, passion, scandals and secret communities, full of people with amazing abilities, then do not hesitate for a second and pick up this book!

All in all, 5 stars for a read that had it all!
Amazing writing style and plot, amazing main and side characters,
as well as some of the most evil ones I've ever encountered!

Review: Daughter of the Sun (Cult of the Cat #1) by Zoe Kalo

Daughter of the Sun (Cult of the Cat #1)

by

Goodreads Blurb:

Sixteen-year-old Trinity was born during a solar eclipse and left at the doorsteps of a convent along with a torn piece of papyrus covered with ancient symbols. Raised by nuns in the English countryside, she leads a quiet life until she’s whisked away to the Island of Cats and a grandmother she never knew.

But before they can get to know each other, her grandmother dies. All that Trinity has left is a mysterious eye-shaped ring. And a thousand grieving cats. As Trinity tries to solve the enigma of the torn papyrus, she discovers a world of bloody sacrifices and evil curses, and a prophecy that points to her and her new feline abilities.

Unwilling to believe that any of the Egyptian gods could still be alive, Trinity turns to eighteen-year-old Seth and is instantly pulled into a vortex of sensations that forces her to confront her true self—and a horrifying destiny.

My Review:

I loved this book for more than one reasons!

Right from the first page I loved they way the author wrote this novel!
It was captivating and so professional that it amazed me!

Zoe Kalo knew exactly how to emphasize all the right things, while at the same time bringing in all the action right from the beginning, and giving us a very good idea of the personality of the main heroine, Trinity.

And, I absolutely loved Trinity's character, too!
She was strong and independent, and ready to defend the weak, against the bullies.

When a mysterious woman, claiming to be a friend of her dying grandmother, shows up at the orphanage where Trinity has spent the first 16 years of her life, she is quite suspicious, especially after what the nun who runs the orphanage tells her, regarding the day they found her on their doorstep.

But, she still has to follow the woman, Dr. Nassri to her new home, an Island full of cats.
There, things get even more exciting and complicated.

This storyline is quite interesting, but what was also amazing for me and my thoughts of this book, was not only Trinity's personality, but a [articular similarity with me, too.

She was born on the same day as me (a fact that in this book is very important).
I loved reading about a girl who, not was born on the same date as me, but this exact date was also that important, and a crucial part of the plot.

And, another plus of the book? It was FULL of cats.
And, I adore cats!! (My name is Cat-erina, after all.)

All in all, 5 stars for an amazing read,
that is definitely going to my Favorites list, too!

Review: Desert Moon by Maria Grazia Swan

by

Blurb From Goodreads:

When her cat hitched a ride without her, she had no choice but to tail the furry creature...

From award winning author Maria Grazia Swan comes a story of suspense, romance, and one mischievous cat... How does a domestic black cat from Southern California become a stowaway and end up in Phoenix Arizona? That’s what Lella York wants to know as she crosses the desert, pedal to the metal, to bring her cat, Flash, back home. But something about a full desert moon bewitches Lella into staying in Arizona longer than she planned and playing house with the sexy Detective Lawrence Devin who is in Arizona as a special witness for an old murder case. The desert is a land of extremes so it’s no surprise that Lella and Larry brave the heat to chase after a cold case. Throw in a hint of Russian mafia, some attractive flight attendants, and a ferret named Lucy, and Lella realizes what a dangerous place the desert can be under a full moon.

My Review:

This was a quite unique book for me, as it started out right in the action.
For quite a while, I felt like I knew nothing about the main heroes, just their names and that Lella and Larry were one thing. It wasn't for too long, but it sure made me wonder about them!
But suddenly, as more and more information was provided, I came to realize that this book was unique, also because the heroes were middle-aged, approximately around their 50s. This is a first for me! But, despite my initial surprise, I quite enjoyed being in the head of a mature woman, who knows what she wants.

And, I have to admit that I liked Larry, too!
I also liked the descriptions of Lella's independent cat, Flash, who seemed to have a mind of her own. And, a very intelligent one, at that!

At some points the story was getting a little slow, where we were following Lella's every move, and were actually seeing Larry in the rare occasions he was home.
But, soon, things became more and more complicated, with more and more people joining on the mystery.
And, I absolutely enjoyed the added touch of all the people originating from different countries, and not just from the United States.

All in all, 4 stars for a book I enjoyed thoroughly!

I'm first and foremost a reader, and a fast reader at that, often devouring books in a single sitting over a period of hours. I have always had aspirations to write and become a published author, but as a teenager I was encouraged to look for a different profession, as being an author "wouldn't pay the bills."

It was that reading that lead a friend of mine to suggest that I had read so many of those books that I could probably write my own! It seemed like a good idea, and I thought that I would give it a try :) a few months later Lex's Melody was well underway, and the rest as they say is history!

DUKES PREFER BLONDES
The Dressmakers #4
Loretta Chase
Releasing December 29th,2015
Avon Books

Lady Clara, the fan-favorite character from Loretta Chase’s New York Times and USA Today bestselling Dressmakers series, finally gets her own happily ever after!

Convenient marriages are rarely so…exciting. Can society’s most adored heiress and London’s most difficult bachelor fall victim to their own unruly desires?

Biweekly marriage proposals from men who can’t see beyond her (admittedly breathtaking) looks are starting to get on Lady Clara Fairfax’s nerves. Desperate to be something more than ornamental, she escapes to her favorite charity. When a child goes missing, she turns to Oliver Radford—a handsome, brilliant, excessively conceited barrister.

Having unexpectedly found himself in line to inherit a dukedom, Radford needs a bride who can navigate the Society he’s never been part of. If he can find one without having to set foot in a ballroom, so much the better. Clara—blonde, blue-eyed, and he must admit, not entirely bereft of brains—will do. As long as he can woo her, wed her—and not, like every other sapskull in London, lose his head over her…

Clara is a beautiful young woman, tired of the big number of possible husbands that woo her only for her looks. She is determined to make everyone see that she is not only good looks, or an object, a trophy, that everyone has to obtain, in order to show her around.

Oliver has been one of the most difficult bachelors, not very interested in following the society's rules about when or whom he is going to wed. He appreciates Clara's beauty, but is taken aback from her intelligence. This particular trait of hers has overwhelmed him in more than one ways!

An inconvenient wedding for both of them must take place between them.

Both Clara and Oliver soon realize that it might prove to be more difficult than either of them imagined, to resist the temptation they both feel for each other.

A very nice read with a set of not-so-ordinary heroes, I deeply enjoyed reading about!

Clara is unlike the women of her time. She is not passive to the wills of others. She is clever, intelligent and determined to make herself important!

Oliver is the tempting bachelor all women probably swoon over, but at the same time inaccessible and dark, unwilling to succumb to society's standards.

While reading this novel, I could totally feel the sentiments the characters felt, thanks to the amazing way the author narrated their story!
And, oh, the chemistry between the heroes! It was almost palpable and it totally blew my mind off!

All in all, 4 stars to a read that proved to
be very meaningful and steamy at the same time!
