Book Tour {Review} -- Framed and Burning (Dreamslippers Series, #2) by Lisa Brunette

Framed and Burning,
Dreamslippers Series Book Two
By Lisa Burnette
Genre: Mystery
Publisher: Sky Harbor LLC

The Dreamslippers are a family of private investigators who solve crimes by using their ability to 'slip' into your dreams. But that isn't easy. In Framed and Burning, they have to defend one of their own. Someone sets fire to Mick Travers’ art studio, killing his assistant, and Mick won't give an alibi. His sister is convinced he's innocent, but her granddaughter and the police aren't so sure.

My Review

This year I have found myself being particularly addicted to mysteries! I love a good solving of a murder!
And, when the ones solving the case are using their paranormal powers to do so? The whole process is even better!

That is, at least, what happened to me while reading this book!

Grace and her grand-daughter Cat have a certain ability. They are called Dreamslippers and can slip into people's dreams.

That is quite a useful ability for someone who investigates crimes!

Even though I sadly hadn't read the first installment in  these series, the author made sure that it wouldn't be too hard to catch up with the events that the heroes have endured!

In this book, Grace's brother's art studio goes up in flame, ending up killing his assistant. The police's investigation focuses their attention around Mick, the brother, who refuses to provide an alibi. He is afraid that his actual alibi will make him look even guiltier, a fact that intrigued me even more!

It is now up to Grace and Cat to make a list of suspects, people that would possibly want Mick dead.

But, even with their unique gifts, this case will prove to be more complicated than what any of them had originally imagined!

Grace is a seventy year old woman that definitely doesn't look her age, both physically and mentally! She is the woman anyone would want to grow to be at that age! She is loyal to her family and determined to prove that her brother is innocent.

Cat is a young brilliant woman, mourning for the loss of her partner. She is not so closely related to her great-uncle, meaning that she won't take his innocence guaranteed just because they are related by blood! She is, too, determined, though, to look for the truth!

Both women can use their gifts in an awesome way I completely admired. They have set up rules, but are also willing to break them when the need arises.

I loved the way the author narrated the story, right from the prologue. The description of the facts taking place in that fateful night at the studio were so delicate, even if a little graphic. Deeply intriguing right from the start! I definitely have to get my hands on the first novel of the series!

All in all, 4,5 stars for a quite unusual mystery novel,
I particularly enjoyed.
